3 Ways To Go From Cringe To Aligned Sales

Every day you are selling.

Yet, when it comes to selling something for money, many people feel icky.

But what’s the difference?

Because at its core, selling is really just inspiring someone into action – moving others to get moving.

So with that in mind, here are some reframes for the top limiting beliefs that hold people back from making more sales (whether it’s selling your skills to a possible employer or your products or services to a potential customer).

❌ "I'm bothering people."

Instead of thinking, “I’m bothering people,” shift the thought to, "I'm helping people."

Then, list out a variety of ways that your product or service could help someone.

For example…

⭐️ I help them grow their business

⭐️ I help them enjoy their life more

⭐️ I help people tap into their creative energy

⭐️ I help them bring their creative vision to life

⭐️ I help them feel seen

✅ Giving yourself proof of how you’re helpful will support your brain to focus on your desire to be of service rather than your fear of bothering someone.

❌ "This is cringe."

What if you just chose to believe that feeling cringe was part of the process of growing?

When you stay in your safe little comfort zone, sure, you don't have to feel cringe. But you also don’t get the joy of accomplishing your big goals because you stay small.

Here’s an empowering thought to use when that icky, cringy feeling comes up:

“When I feel cringe, it pushes me outside of my comfort zone and helps me grow.”

✅ This thought acknowledges the feeling and creates acceptance in your body. It reminds you that it’s okay to feel this way and that you can still take action while feeling cringe!

❌ "I have to convince them or it won't happen."

Convincing energy comes from a scarcity mindset.

Having a scarcity mindset pulls you into being overly self-indulgent and pushes you out of being of service to your fellow humans.

The best way to shift out of that icky, self-serving, convincing energy is to get curious.

Become a seeker of the truth.

Shift from, "I have to convince them" to "I'm curious about ____.”

And then get curious about:

🦄 What holds someone back from paying for your offer?

🦄 What do prospective clients need to hear from you?

🦄 What does your potential employer really mean when they say that?

🦄 How could you show up more valuable?

✅ When you acknowledge the icky feelings that come with selling and reframe the thoughts that create the ick, you can sell from a more neutral, clean slate.

Then it feels no different than sharing your enthusiasm for your favorite band’s new album and hoping that more people get to experience the feeling that you get when you listen to it.

So go out there and get curious, be willing to feel cringe and powerfully remind yourself how what you have to offer will enrich the lives of everyone who wants what you have to offer!
