Do You Suffer From “Toxic Practicality”?

Have you ever heard of “toxic practicality”? I hadn’t until my client coined the term 🤣

Let me break it down for you.

Say you desperately want to quit your corporate job and go full time with your side hustle.

You’ve been saving up money and building up your business for a while, but you feel overwhelmed by thoughts of everything that has to happen before you take the leap…

- You have a corporate car, so you’d have to get a new car.

- You have to figure out health insurance and dental. You wonder how does that even work for someone who is self employed?

- You need an accountant because obviously your taxes won’t be doing themselves! 👀

- And a bookkeeper? How are you going to keep track of your spending and earning, and what the hell is a P & L??

Because there are so many moving pieces and new things to learn it seems like a mountain of tasks piling up, and you start to feel the impending doom.

So you shut down. Turn on Netflix and zone the F out.

Your dreams can wait for another day

… or can they??

This is toxic practicality. And yes it’s great to know what needs to get done.. but there’s no need to overthink it.

When you were a baby and you saw other people running around, did you think of all of the things you needed to have in place before you could run?

No, you just put one foot in front of the other and started figuring it out.

You fell, you bumped your knees a few times and you looked around for people to support you on your journey so that you could live your dream and run freely on the lawn.

Don’t let your toxic practicality get in the way of you living your dreams!

Send me a message if you struggle with this too! 💗 I’m happy to share some tips to help you overcome your own version of toxic practicality.
